Shlian Art for Covid-19 Relief
Hope you are well as we adjust to our new lives.
Last week I needed to do something positive so I held an art auction on my Instagram page (@matthewshlian) and put up a test piece with the hopes of raising some money for people in need.
Ara 117 in Black 18" x 24" x 1/2"
Within two days it sold for $2100: That money helped pay for multiple phone bills, filled up a few gas tanks and grocery carts, and provided 3,000 meals to Washtenaw County residents via Food Gatherers.
Because of the positive response, my plan is to auction off a new piece every week. Each auction will run Thursday - Sunday and end at midnight EST. The piece below is currently open for bids.
Some Caterpillars Stay Caterpillars (v15) 20” x 20” x 1/2” ink wash assembled paper
I’m donating 50% of all proceeds to food banks like Food Gatherers . With COVID-19’s disruption to our lives, many children, families, seniors, and other individuals are experiencing increased food insecurity, and many of our neighbors will turn to food pantries for the first time.
Let’s do some good! You get art, I get to keep making art and we get to feed people together. Please US & Canada bids only here (overseas shipping is not an option at the moment).

I'm spending most days homeschooling our six-year old and teaching drums to our one-year old while social distancing from everyone. We've been making a lot of art and taking walks around the neighborhood.
I haven't been to the studio in 3 weeks and may be going a bit crazy...but I think I may be on to something with these shrinky dinks.
Stay safe,
Matt
